Here in 2024. How things change since this video was recorded 4 years ago. Notion has become a very generous FREE app, while Evernote has become useless for me - unless I upgrade to a paid plan. It was my universal note-capturing system for almost 10 years... and then... they slowly started removing features for free users. I went from being able to sync 3 devices, down to 2. I was able to create unlimited notebooks, and now you can only have 1. I could create unlimited notes... now you can only have 50 - and worst of all, if you're like me and have anything beyond that because you've been using it for years - you get slapped with a popup agressively forcing you to upgrade to a paid plan everytime you click an existing note only to view it. To me, that's a massive turnoff which is why I'm looking into importing everything in Notion. I'll miss the audio note taking to capture song ideas or dreams. Anyway, just wanted to comment and suggest perhaps publishing a 2024 update to this video! Cheers :)

Thank you for sharing this video. I've been doing bullet journaling for years and I was looking for a new idea to improve my method. Your daily log method inspired me. With your method, I could dump my thoughts/ideas on a daily basis but not for just tracking daily tasks. I feel like I could use and write my journal more freely!

Hey Jerad! Great video. I'm coming to this after watching the Zapier Notion integration video. I'm using sections and setting up the zap. I've got it to the point where it works for projects with tasks coming into Notion, but Zapier doesn't seem to recognize sections (so I may have to go back to making subprojects underneath projects). Any thoughts on how to solve?

Hey Jared Thank you for publishing this. This is powerful 💪🏼 At times I do catch myself of not being present in the moment when I feel discouraged and have a lack of self confidence when it’s easy to just removing or avoiding problems. But more often it happens and feels like it gets worse. I better have clarity and think or having the resilience out of love and respect for myself. As freelancer/business owner I constantly battle the adversary sometimes. Thanks for reminding me to take action on what I learn and do rather than just reading or listening to a book. Like your content on notion/media stuff. Keep it up!

Keep the updates coming. The learning as you go becomes a learning together. Have/know/will you try the Livetracker System? Currently I am testing and adapting it. You basicly setup a monthly page (your March), but instead of a plan it is a growing record. You have the date, weekday, space for one noteworty or memorable thing, that happend on the day and maybe some habittrackers/30 day challenges/stats. A second page can be filled with goal, if desired. Using it take a few seconds a day or minutes every few days. Optionally you can write as many pages journal as you want. My guess is this does what your weekly reviews so in minimal format for a month. There are similar base urges/thoughts involved.

FYI , on the list monthly, old bullet journal would draw a line between each week to easily identifyeach week. Also would separate the days in 3 column ( am, noon, pm ) to keep in order...

Nice, but not really a bullet journal template (in my opinion). This is more of a pre-formatted planner. I think the value of bullet journaling is not being locked into a templated lifestyle. Again, not attacking your method. It's YOUR method after all. I'm using paper journals because I love the satisfaction I get from writing with my fountain pen. I tried writing on my iPad into Apple Notes but it just isn't as relaxing and satisfying. When I write on my iPad, I always feel like I'm in a hurry-even using the Paperlike overlay. All the best!

Hello! Of course it's always good to have a form of traceability. I tend to make written projects, so it's usefull to have a digital version of them. I don't do it for my bullet journal system, but I it can help to archive, or for other reasons, why not? I like your weekly recap. Recaps are like feedbacks but onto paper. I have trackers to see progress in my workouts, more simple than going into much details about it. I do a "codex" system for everything i have to plan at home: A Letter for the subject, a number for the word, and I recap that in a page like the keys one (I don't use all Ryder Caroll's keys, I just took what was right for me). It saves time everyday for routines and chores, and it takes not much space. But my dailys don't look like yours at all. On that month recap, you can allow a column with the first letter of the day next to the number it correspond. That will help you. Also i do all my monthlys in pencil, saves times, removable, and i never have to worry about the time it takes to make it neat. Love how your notebook is turning. Looking forward for more I still have to see (I'm like 9 months late obviously). 😊

Hello! Bullet journaling is a journey, between testing, processing, thinking, findind ways to suit our own needs... you are totally right. I just wanted to tell you that you can even do something to find what you have writen in your notes in a simple manner: just make an "index notes page" at the end of your notebook, with the date and the subject covered. You will have a recap. Don't be afraid to write because of your handwriting, at the end of the day what is important is that writing is helping you, thoughts like that are useless, but it takes time to figure out, and I have to say that I like your handwriting. I find it cool, sharp and neat. You know, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I do not use a time blocker because my routine is quite the same, but the way you do it on your page is really nice, and i would probably do one myself if my needs have to change one day. This is what i like about Bullet Journaling, you can always find a way to adapt it, it's versatile. Thank you for your time explaining and sharing this with us all. Loved the video! ✨🔥✨

I use a similar type journal but I think I have found the solution to your not being able to search your notebook by topic. I leave a line or two at the bottom of each page. When I am finished writing a page, even if I’m continuing the day on the next page, I will write in that blank space any topics that I think I might ever have a reason to look back on (ex:haircut- if got a hair cut that day) This allows me to quickly look through my journal for the topic I’m looking for. I also at the end of the week go toan index page at the back of my journal where I keep a list of those topics and the page numbers and add those topics that came up that week (I could dothis daily but I prefer once a week)

I use that method in Notion for projects. Though I have been bullet journaling this year and am now digital bullet journaling (see latest video), I still need something that is archival and easier to view the status of multiple projects. I've been thinking about doing a video showing my hybrid process.

I hear you on the monthly calendar. The list style that Ryder uses doesn't help me know what day of week it is. Drove me nuts. My SOLUTION: I find a monthly template online, shrink it to a size that fits my notebook, print it, then use washi tape to paste it into my journal. Print all 12 months at a time, and paste them in as you go each month. Easy peasy. 🙃

Now that I'm freelancing, I'm trying to incorporate a bullet journal with a digital planner because I plan best when physically writing, but I need to have a digital calendar accessible through my website for clients to schedule a meeting. 🤔🙇‍♀️
